Trip to Maine August 1977

In August of 1977 I took a trip to Maine.  I drove an old van that I used to deliver meat from my meat market.  With me on the trip was Rick Wesley one of my boy scouts from Troop 227.  I was the scout Master.  Rick just got his Driver License, he would help driving on the trip.  I also had my daughter, son, 2 nieces, 1 nephew and of course Rick.  It was a motley crew for sure.  We all had a blast.  We drove through Canada to Niagra Falls, then to Vermont and camping for the night.  Then from Vermont to Maine we drove.  We backpacked some heavily wooded and swampy Maine out back lands to Squaw Mountain which we climbed.  The mountain was near Moosehead Lake.  Then we drove to the Ocean and ate lobster, spend the night next to the Ocean in a 150 year old hotel.  The next Morning we drove back to Michigan.  This was the first time the kids have seen the Ocean or had lobster.  For that matter it was the first time they have ever been away from Lansing.  The trip was a lot of fun.

The Pictures are old and not in the best of shape. But they still tell a good story.
